Rachelderrington integrative counsellor north east

Hi, I’m Rachel- a therapeutic CounselLor.

I offer therapy near you. In person or nationally online or over the phone.

Questioning your mental health stops here. We can talk. Drop me a message and we can explore working together. (Message, email, phone or video whichever is easiest for you)

You’re here because maybe things feel as though they have slipped out of control? Life events, relationships, finances, health and even world events can impact our everyday wellbeing. Counselling is an opportunity to talk it through with someone trained to listen.

I’m sorry things are feeling so hard right now. In a busy world it can be hard to stop and reflect on what we really think. It’s usually the symptoms we notice; sleepless nights, worrying, low mood, anger, depression, anxiety. Sometimes repetitive behaviours or unhelpful coping strategies can creep in. It is when we ignore these messages and ‘just get on with it’ that we can find it hard to bounce back. In counselling you can take regular time to explore your thoughts in a private, undisrupted space. I can help.

  • My Approach

I am an integrative therapeutic counsellor. I have a theoretical background in three main areas; humanistic, psychodynamic and cognitive behavioural therapy.

In our therapy this means I will get to know you and understand your difficulties. The techniques we use will be unique to your situation and preferences but will rely on our working partnership. Some like to call this counselling and others ‘therapy’.

  • So Why Me?

I have a life lived before retraining into this profession. I have lived experience of mental illness. Also, with over ten years of teaching I understand the pressures of high stress and struggling to achieve a work life balance. I began my training to become a therapist in 2015 and an important part of the process is to be the client. I have undertaken hours of my own personal counselling before and since then, benefitting from the process and improving my own mental wellbeing and nurturing healthy coping strategies. I remember my first counselling session well. I was so lucky to have a great experience with an amazing counsellor who inspired me to support people like you.
